Troy S. Hockemeyer, O.D.

About Dr. Hockemeyer

Dr. Hockemeyer is a lifelong member of the Allen County, IN community. Hockemeyer Family Eye Care is the continuation of his own optometrist’s practice, Dr. Milton Brackmann.

A graduate of Wabash College and Indiana University School of Optometry, Dr. Hockemeyer practices full-scope primary eye care. He takes great pride in staying up to date with the latest technological advances to keep patient care top notch. He also takes the time to make sure each patient understands their individual needs. Special training in primary eye care, including diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases and management of laser vision correction, allows him to provide complete care.

Dr. Hockemeyer is a member of the American Optometric Association, Indiana Optometric Association, and Northeastern Indiana Optometric Society. Dr. Hockemeyer is married and has four children. His hobbies include golf, water sports, physical fitness, gardening, and looking for new adventures.

About Dr. Hoffman

Dr. Hoffman knows what it means to grow up in a small community, having graduated from Heritage High School in Monroeville, Indiana. He continued his studies at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts with a major in biology and a minor in mathematics. He then received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University School of Optometry in Bloomington, IN. His externships in optometry school took him to clinics in Lackland, TX, Montrose, NY, and Indianapolis, IN where he studied complete primary eye care. He has training in medical eye care for ocular diseases such as diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye, and allergies. Pediatrics and vision therapy were also part of his training. He is also experienced in all types of contacts and spectacle correction.

Dr. Hoffman is a member of the American Optometric Association along with the Indiana Optometric Association. He has volunteered for the AAU Junior Olympic Games and Special Olympic Games where he screened athletes for a variety of ocular conditions and tested ocular skills as they relate to sports. Dr. Hoffman resides in Fort Wayne with his wife Laura and their daughter Emma. In their spare time they enjoy being outdoors. Dr. Hoffman is also a licensed NCAA and IHSAA Basketball official.

Megan Fuelling, O.D.

About Dr. Fuelling

After high school at Bellmont, Dr. Fuelling received her Associate of Science degree in Optometric Technology/Opticianry. She then worked at Hockemeyer Family Eye Care for three years as she finished her Bachelor’s of Science degree from Purdue Fort Wayne. After her undergraduate career, she went on to attend Indiana University School of Optometry, graduating in 2021.

While at Indiana University School of Optometry, Dr. Fuelling received extensive training in primary care, ocular diseases, contact lens wear, pediatrics, and myopia control. She gained memorable experience during her external rotations at the Fort Wayne VA clinic, an Optometric facility, and at Camp Lejune, a Marine/Naval base in North Carolina. Dr. Fuelling was also able to volunteer at the Special Olympic Games where she executed screening exams for the athletes. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association and Indiana Optometric Association.

Having grown up locally, our community is important to Dr. Fuelling. She is looking forward to giving back to the community and making an impact on people both inside and outside of the office!

Outside of practicing optometry, Dr. Fuelling spends her time watching sports, traveling to explore new places, and enjoys good food, coffee, and photography.

Meet Lauren, our office manager at Hockemeyer Family Eye Care. A proud graduate of Norwell High School and PFW with an Indiana University diploma, where she earned her Bachelors of Hospital Administration (BHA) degree. Her journey in the Optometry field began in 2017. With a growth from Optician to Optical Manager and now overseeing the entire office, she’s honed her skills and expertise along the way. Passionate about customer service and community engagement, she is also an ABOC-certified professional with a knack for not quitting until a problem is resolved. Beyond the office, she finds joy in serving others through community projects and church activities. Family is her cornerstone, and you’ll often find her creating memories with her husband, Heath, and their two beautiful children, Warner and Adelyn. When time allows, she indulges in her love for baking, reading and spending time outdoors.
Leslie Howard - Technician Manager
Leslie Howard - Technician Manager

Leslie is the Technician Manager at Hockemeyer Family Eye Care, bringing over 10 years of experience in the optometry field to her role. With seven years of service at Hockemeyer, Leslie has proven herself as a valuable leader within the team. She attained certification as a Certified Paraoptometric while working, showcasing her commitment to professional growth and excellence in patient care. Prior to joining the Hockemeyer team, Leslie worked as a Retina Specialist, further enriching her knowledge and expertise in the field. Outside of work, Leslie enjoys camping, traveling, indulging in a good book, and exploring new restaurants. Her leadership skills, coupled with her passion for eye care and adventurous spirit, make her an essential part of the Hockemeyer team.

Meghan brings four years of dedicated service as a Technician at Hockemeyer Family Eye Care, complemented by her CPO certification. In her free time, she finds joy in the company of her three daughters, beloved dogs, and pursuing her hobbies of crocheting and baking. Meghan’s commitment to both her profession and personal life reflects her nurturing spirit and dedication to those she cares for, both professionally and personally.

Ann Austin - Optician

Ann is a seasoned healthcare professional with experience dating back to 2003, specializing in eye care since 2018. Holding both a CPO and CPOA, her expertise is undeniable. Known for treating patients like family, Ann’s compassionate approach fosters trust and comfort. Outside of the office, she’s a supporter of Chicago sports like the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks, while also cheering for UNC and IU in basketball.

Destiny Burgess - Technician

Destiny, a technician at HFEC, is dedicated to enhancing your vision and well-being. With one year of experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, she prioritizes continuous improvement and training. Certified in CPR and First Aid, Destiny excels in time management, positivity, communication, and teamwork. Beyond work, she enjoys traveling and spending quality time with family and friends.

Marissa Feipel -Technician-
Marissa Feipel - Technician

Marissa , Technician at Hockemeyer Family Eye Care since 2012, brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the Hoagland and New Haven community. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) and her Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) certification. Outside of work, Marissa enjoys volleyball, camping, and spending her free time with her husband and five children.

Ally Ewell - Technician

Ally, an optometric technician at Hockemeyer Family Eye Care, combines nine years of customer and patient experience with a deep passion for helping others. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice at PFW, she holds an Associate of Arts in Psychology. Beyond work and studies, Ally enjoys gym workouts, cooking, outdoor activities, and computer games. A former resident of Germany due to her husband’s Army service, she explored five countries during her stay: France, Netherlands, Czechia, Switzerland, and Italy.

Dawn Richmond - Receptionist

Dawn is the friendly face at the front desk of Hockemeyer Family Eye Care, bringing over 35 years of customer service experience to our team. Dawn enjoys problem-solving and ensures that every patient’s needs are met with efficiency and care. Her warm demeanor and attention to detail create a welcoming atmosphere for all who enter the practice. Outside of work, Dawn enjoys in working in her garden and is also a proud grandmother to nine beautiful grandchildren.

Brandi, the friendly face at Hockemeyer Family Eye Care since 2022, and has been working in the medical field since graduating. She prides herself in in warmly greeting patients by name when arriving to their appointments and loves vacationing in the Smoky Mountains, going on road trips, and spending quality time with her family and dogs.

Jenny Hardy - Receptionist

Jenny brings a wealth of experience to her role as a receptionist at Hockemeyer Family Eye Care, with 25 years of dedicated service in the optometry field. Starting as a technician and transitioning seamlessly into her current position, her knowledge and expertise are invaluable assets to the practice. She is a Certified Paraoptometric (CPO), demonstrating her commitment to excellence in patient care. Outside of work, Jenny enjoys reading, painting, spending time with her family and 16-year-old cat, Kitty Girl. She is also a self-proclaimed Trivia Fanatic!
